Welcome to civstudy, operated by Idappaccayata, LLC. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our educational platform. By using civstudy, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using civstudy, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use our service.

2. Description of Service

civstudy provides an educational platform focused on the history of human institutions. Our service includes:

  • Spaced repetition flashcard system for learning
  • Learning tracks and progress tracking
  • Mobile applications for iOS and Android

  • Harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service

  • Resell or redistribute our service without authorization

6. Pricing and Payment

Subscription Plans

  • civstudy offers both free and paid subscription tiers
  • Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis
  • Prices may change with 30 days' notice
  • All fees are non-refundable except as required by law or as otherwise stated

Free Tier

The free tier includes access to core features with certain limitations on daily usage.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until then.

7. Educational Content

civstudy content is provided for educational purposes. While we strive for accuracy:

  • Content is generated with AI assistance and may contain errors
  • Content reflects historical scholarship which may be debated
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any content
  • Content should not be relied upon as the sole source for academic or professional purposes

8. Intellectual Property

civstudy and its content, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of our service without permission
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
  • Remove proprietary notices or labels
  • Use our trademarks without authorization

9. Service Availability

While we strive for high availability, we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for:

  • Scheduled maintenance or updates
  • Service interruptions beyond our control
  • Third-party service failures
  • Loss of learning progress due to technical issues

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IDAPPACCAYATA, LLC (D/B/A CIVSTUDY) SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES
  • LOST PROFITS OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
  • DATA LOSS OR CORRUPTION
  • ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM RELIANCE ON CONTENT

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Warranty Disclaimer

THE CIVSTUDY SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • The service will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • Defects will be corrected
  • The service will meet your specific requirements
  • Content is accurate, complete, or current

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless civstudy from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of applicable laws
  • Your violation of third-party rights

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in fraudulent activity
  • Fail to pay required fees
  • Use the service in a manner that harms others or our systems

Upon termination, your right to use civstudy ceases immediately. You may export your data before termination.

14. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will provide notice of material changes via email or through our service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in Arizona, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

16. Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and civstudy
  • Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect
  • No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right
  • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent
